Flow Visualization

Description:

The idea of this project was to better visualize flow. I used a paper towel roll, one balloon, a funnel, some water colors, tape, several sheets of paper, and wax paper to create a "poor man's wind tunnel." It took several attempts to get my paint to move because the paper would always absorb the paint by the time I got the wind blowing. After many failures I came up with the idea of placing paint on wax paper and then blowing it onto the paper. My first attempt worked great, the attempts that followed weren't as successful. I think I put too much water in those mixtures of paint or something to that effect.

Materials Used:

Material Cost
1 latex ballons, assorted colors $0.35
1 paper towel roll $0.68
Scratch paper --
Wax paper already available
Funnel Made with paper
Tape already available

I spent about an hour and a half on this project.

Below are some pictures of my materials and results.
