Volume Visualization (Jello)

Description:

While doing this project I made two attempts. The first attempt failed miserablly when I realized I didn't put enough gelatin in the jello and it melted at well below room temperature. The second attempt was much more thought out, but my final product was not as pretty as originally hoped. The final product consists of approximately 200 1" cubes (approximately because I had trouble producing cubes all the exact same size, so there are some rows with more cubes than others) stacked 5 high, 5 wide, and 8 long. The patterns within the jello block are simple and they basically consist of some green on blue, blue on red, red on green, and all the colors on clear.

Materials Used:

Material Cost
plastic container $1.97
10 Knox Jello boxes $1.19 ea.

I spent about 6 hours on this project.

Below are some pictures of my jello cubes.
